Ladies' Guild
The Peace Lutheran Church Ladies' Guild meets on the first Monday of each month (September through May) at 12:00 p.m. These business meetings consist of devotions, committee reports and old and new business. The Guild secretary takes minutes at each meeting. In addition to conducting the work of the Guild, the monthly meetings provide time for sisterly fellowship. At each meeting, one of the members is the hostess and provides refreshments.
The object of the Ladies' Guild is to serve our local congregation as needed, to foster fellowship on a spiritual and social level, and to help in the charitable endeavors of our Church. All women of the congregation who are communicant members of Peace Lutheran Church are welcome to be members of the Guild. Every member has the right to vote and to hold office, is encouraged to attend meetings regularly, contribute to the financial support and participate in the service projects of the Guild.
The Ladies' Guild Constitution and Bylaws outlines the duties of officers, members and committees.
Each year the Guild participates in various fundraising and service events for the congregation, including:
- Organizing the annual Cookie Walk and Craft Bazaar
- Preparing a congregational cookbook, Pleasures from the Good Earth, to sell as a fundraiser
- Planning special meals, including funeral luncheons, Advent and Lenten suppers, Pastor Appreciation Dinner, Easter Vigil reception and Easter breakfast
- Coordinating coffee hostesses for Sunday fellowship time
- Providing cakes for special congregational celebrations
- Preparing the altar for each Service (Altar Guild )
- Collecting and packing materials (baby care kits, personal care kits, school kits and fabric kits) for Lutheran World Relief
- Supporting a Concordia Theological Seminary student, Justin Hesterman from Napoleon, OH, who is in his second year in the Master of Divinity program
